In a letter to Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda, Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor supported the NEET PG applicants and asked for “urgent action on the Neet PG mismanagement.”
On August 11, the NEET PG 2024 exam will be administered by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). The health ministry has also been asked by several MPs, student organizations, and doctor associations to reconsider the NEET PG 2024 exam centre allocation. Because the reassigned cities are farther distant than their preferred options, aspirants are voicing discontent with them. In the letter, Tharoor emphasized how many applicants will need to travel great distances—some by thousands of kilometres—to get to their NEET PG 2024 exam centres. The letter stated, “This situation is made worse by the current adverse weather conditions, challenges in obtaining travel tickets, a lack of reasonably priced accommodations, and safety concerns.”
According to Tharoor, given the reasonable amount of participants, there should be enough centres in every state for a national exam like NEET PG. This would allow students to take the test in places that are near their homes or places of education.
