About This Scholarship
The Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship (CSSS) is a flagship scholarship by the Government of India aimed at supporting meritorious students from economically weaker backgrounds. It is awarded based on Class 12 performance and helps students pursue undergraduate and postgraduate studies in recognized institutions.
Around 82,000 scholarships are awarded annually across India. The scheme provides financial assistance for day-to-day academic expenses. It is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) with direct benefit transfer (DBT). The scheme also ensures equitable distribution across states and encourages students to continue higher education without financial constraints.
