UGC NET registration – Aspirants for UGC NET exam have a development worth noting. The registration for UGC NET June 2020 exam will begin on 16 March. Candidates who are willing to write the exam this time have to remember that the last date to register is 16 April.
The admit card for the same exam will be released on 15 May. UGC NET also known as UGC National Level Eligibility Test will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) from 15 to 20 June. And, the results for the date are said to be released on 5 July this year.
UGC NET registration – Candidates can login to official website ‘https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/webinfo/public/home.aspx’ from 16 March onwards to apply for the exam. The UGC NET exam is held by NTA on behalf of UGC. Earlier, the same exam used to be conducted by CBSE in 4 subjects in 90 cities across India.
NTA took charge of conducting the exam in December 2018. The exam is conducted to know the eligibility of candidates who have studied post graduation for the post of Assistant Professors or Junior Research Fellowhsip (JRF) or both in Indian colleges and universities.
Candidates who have studied post graduation in any one of the subjects spread across Humanities (even languages are included), Social Sciences, Computer Science and Applications, Electronic Science with 55% pass marks can write this exam. For candidates from reserved categories the pass percentage in their respective post graduate degree is 50%.
UGC NET registration to begin on 16 March
The eligibility for awarding of JRF or Assistant Professorship or both depends on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of the exam. However, the candidates qualifying exclusively for Assistant Professor are not to be considered for award of JRF.
UGC NET registration – Candidates who qualify the test for eligibility for Assistant Professor are governed by the rules and regulations for recruitment of Assistant Professor of the concerned universities, colleges, state governments, as the case may be. NET exam will have two papers, namely Paper 1 and Paper 2, Paper 1 is common to all and Paper 2 is taken by candidates from 81 subjects.
Both the papers have to be answered in a duration of three hours. Paper 1 will have questions related to reasoning, numerical and teaching ability, Paper 2 will have questions related to subject chosen by candidates. The score in Paper 1 and Paper 2 must be 40% for general category candidates and 35% for candidates of reserved category to qualify for the exam.
The application fee is said to be Rs 1000 for general category candidates, Rs 500 for OBC and EWS candidates. The fee is Rs 250 for 250 for SC, ST and PWD and transgender category candidates.
Final year post graduation candidates can also apply for the exam, however they will be considered for awarding the JRF or Assistant Professorship only after passing their respective post graduation exam with required pass percentage.
