
SRM Amaravati works on various projects – SRM University in Andhra Pradesh has tied up with Amara Raja Group to start a centre of excellence for bringing out devices that store energy, said D Narayana Rao, pro-vice chancellor, SRM University (Amaravati).

The top official was speaking during the industry-academia summit. The event was organised by the university in association with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Narayana Rao also reminded that their university was working on a prestigious project along with Indian Railways to bring out hydrogen-infused railway engines.
He further said the the university has plans to start a centre for hydrogen powered fuel cell based train. This will also be one of their highlight projects, he said. SRM University Amaravati is an institution that has multidisciplinary research approach, he said. He further said the cooperation between the industry and academia must be in tandem with the developments taking place in the industry.

Chairman of CII’s AP unit Galla Vijay said their organisation is working towards promoting entrepreneurial talent that comes out from the universities. Good deal of support for the educational institutions engaged in research must come from the industry, he said. The collaborative model among industry and academia must evolve keeping pace with the dynamism of industry, Narayana Rao said.
