PhD admissions open at IIIT-D – Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi (IIIT-D) has announced admissions for PhD subjects for the academic year 2020-2021. The topics where students can take research on topics related to Computational Biology (CB), Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Human Centered Design (HCD), Mathematics and Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH).

Candidates interested in applying for the PhD courses can logon to the official website at ‘apr2020‘ and apply for the PhD courses by clicking on the link titled ‘Applications are invited for the AY 2020-2021. Interested candidates are required to apply online here’ The same link can be clicked for knowing more about research areas and required qualification for applying for the courses.

Online application for PhD courses at IIIT-D has already begun on 11 February, last date for applying is 16 March. The shortlisted candidates will be announced on 31 March. Interview (and/or) written test will be held from 10 to 30 April.

Candidates qualified for UGC/CSIR JRF, DST INSPIRE, DBT Fellowship are strongly encouraged to apply. Even fresh B.Tech graduates who have a strong liking for research can also apply. Sources from the educational institution say that GATE score is not mandatory for applying for PhD courses.

PhD admissions – The procedure for application is online only, candidates willing to submit application for more than one course should give seperate application for each course. After the submission process is over, candidates will receive an application number and a link to download the form.

Candidates have to use the link and download the application form and take a printout of it, the hard copy of the application form must be submitted at the time of the interview along with the required documents. There is no application fee for PhD programmes.

Financial support is also provided for students joining the PhD programme. Students joining the Ph.D. programme as regular student will be considered for Institute Fellowship. Presently institute is offering fellowship at the rate of Rs.31,000 per month in the first and second year and Rs.35,000 per month in third and fourth year. For fifth year, fellowship is at reduced rate, that is, Rs. 30,000 per month.

Additional financial support of Rs 50K is offered towards purchase of lap top/desktop. And, a contingency grant of Rs 10,000 per month is also offered. Full time Ph.D. students are encouraged to present their research work at International Conferences. Financial support of up to Rs. 2 lakh for the entire duration of the programme is available.
