“NBEMS shall not entertain any request for sharing any content of the examination, including answer keys/answer sheets,” stated the NEET PG 2024 information bulletin.
The PG medical entrance exam was held on August 11 after a lengthy delay for admission to MD, MS, MDS, and other postgraduate medical programs. Initially, the test was given in two shifts. The exam was given at 416 examination centers and attracted approximately 2.28 lakh participants.

Unlike many other exams, NBEMS will not release the answer key for NEET PG 2024 as per their information bulletin.
With the exam held on August 11 across 416 centers nationwide, candidates are keen to understand how their percentile scores are calculated. NEET PG follows the AIIMS normalization method, a sophisticated procedure to ensure fairness across multiple exam shifts. This method converts raw scores into percentiles, with scores calculated up to seven decimal places, to reduce ties and ensure accurate results.
NEET PG 2024 marks will be standardized and converted to percentile scores under the AIIMS normalization methodology. A percentile score is the percentage of candidates that scored equal to or less than the specified percentile in the exam. To eliminate bunching and reduce ties amongst candidates, the percentile score will be calculated to seven decimal places.
“As a result, the top (highest score) of each group (shift) will receive the same percentile of 100, which is desirable. “The marks obtained between the highest and lowest scores are converted to appropriate percentiles,” according to the AIIMS normalization paper. The step-by-step procedure for normalizing and preparing the merit list is as follows:
- Examinee distribution throughout numerous shifts: Candidates will be randomly assigned to different shifts so that these groups are roughly equal in size. This process ensures that there is no bias in the distribution of candidates who took the examination.
- Preparing results for each shift: The results will be presented as raw scores, percentages, subject-specific percentiles, and total percentile. The overall percentile will not be calculated by averaging the percentiles of individual participants.
