Overview
The Indira Gandhi National Open University will launch a bachelor’s degree programme for Agniveers, who are beneficiaries of the “Agnipath” Scheme. This programme will consist of Bachelor level courses designed to enhance the skills and knowledge of those who serve in the armed forces.
The Ministry of Education has recently announced the launch of a skill-based Bachelor of Arts degree programme for the youthful and ambitious aspirants of the “Agnipath Scheme.” They shall be known as Agniveers. Millions of pupils will be enlisted in the Army, Navy, and Air Force for a four-year commitment. The University Grants Commission has approved this plan for bachelor’s degree education.
The programme will describe and honour the diverse defence training received by young patriots in order to serve their country with valour and skill. These topics will be taught in this bachelor’s degree programme BA and will be provided by the defence training centres during their defence establishments.
The Navy, Air Force, and Army intend to execute an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) to ensure the course is implemented fairly. The course has already been designed by the Indira Gandhi National Open University and is aligned with the University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Credit Framework (NCF), National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) as required by the National Education Policy of 2020.
These programmes require that at least 50% of the graduate degree be earned through various types of technical and non-technical training, with the remainder coming from courses and subjects such as Economics, English, Political Science, Mathematics, Public Administration, Tourism, Vocational Studies, Jyotish, and Agriculture, etc.

The goal of this course is to provide Agniveers with the knowledge and training they need to become successful in the hospitality business. Coursework includes tourist management, marketing, and planning. Students who take this course will be prepared for careers in the tourist industry as tour guides, travel agents, or hotel managers.
Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills) in Computer Applications
This course seeks to teach Agniveers IT skills. Programming, networking, and database administration are IT basics taught. Computer Applications, B.A. (Applied Skills)Entrepreneurs who attend this programme will be equipped for software development, network administration, and database management employment in information technology.
Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills) in Electronics
This programme is designed to provide Agniveers with the tools they need to be successful in the electronics sector. This course covers embedded systems, digital circuits, and electronics engineering. Graduates of this course can pursue careers as design engineers, test engineers, or production engineers in the electronics industry.
Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills) in Avionics
This major aims to provide students with the necessary practical knowledge and theoretical understanding of avionics that employers seek. The course will cover subjects such as aircraft systems, avionics engineering, and radar systems. Programme graduates can pursue careers as avionics technicians, test engineers, or systems engineers, among other related professions.
Bachelor of Arts (Applied Skills) in Security and Disaster Management
The objective of this course is to equip Agniveers with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective work in the safety and crisis management field. The topics of security planning, risk assessment, and emergency response are extensively addressed. Graduates of this institution can pursue careers as security officers, risk analysts, or disaster response coordinators, among other related roles.
