
Applications invited for summer internship – Online applications are being invited by Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R) for the institute-funded SPARK fellowships for summer internships and they have a weekly stipend of Rs 2500.
The objective of the internship programmer is to provide research exposure to candidates. And, also to attract talented undergraduate students of other institutes and nurture them. These students can later on apply for studying post graduate courses or doctoral studies at IIT-R.
Students of BArch, BTech and MSc who have completed at least two semesters of the undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline from any educational institution in India can apply for this programmer. The eligibility to apply for this programmer is CGPA. CGPA should be greater than 7.5 for IITs/IISc students, CGPA should be greater than 8.0 for NITs/ IISERs/ NISER/IIEST/UM-DAECBS students and CGPA should be greater than 8.5 for students of other institutes.

The candidates can logon to the official website ‘http://spark.iitr.ac.in/’ for obtaining more information on internship and applying for it. The last date to apply is 28 February. The list of selected candidates will be announced on 15 March. The internship will be held at IIT-R during summer vacation which is from 12 May to 10 July.

At the successful completion of the internship, a certificate from the institute with the name of the intern and mentor, signed by Dean, SRIC, will be issued to all interns. Candidates willing to apply for the programmer have to keep in mind these guidelines:
A) They have to login to submit their application and view its status.
B) Applications need to be submitted through an online portal made for the purpose where the applicants will upload the last semester mark sheet of current degree, photograph, a 500-word research statement, and a brief 1-2 page resume. For students of other institutes, No Objection Certificate (NOC) will also be sought on joining.
C) Applicants need to mention names of five faculty members of their choice from the list of faculty members interested in having a summer intern.
D) The term of the summer training should not be less than 6 weeks. Students of IITR will be allowed to begin their summer internship immediately after the completion of the term-end examination.

E) Accommodation and mess facilities are subject to payment of necessary charges at par with that paid by students living in hostels. The average cost of housing would be around Rs.5500/month (including mess facility).
F) All interns will be issued a temporary institute ID to avail the library, sports, medical, computer center, internet, and other institute and departmental research and recreation facilities.

G) The candidates will be required to abide by the conduct rules of the institute, failing which the internship will be terminated and the intern will be asked to leave.
